JAE is excited to bring an excerpt of Traka outdoors to Medfield State Hospital. This event will include a short performance, paired with an interactive workshop and reflection time. These JAE offerings will explore how we can begin to heal trauma through movement and community.

The event is free, with donations to support this ongoing work welcome.

Calling in audiences to participate in movement workshops has proven crucial to introducing JAE’s production of Traka, to all communities who may suffer some level of trauma, crisis, grief, and disorientation. Establishing psychological safety with workshop participants, inviting them to share stories and experiences, working toward individual and collective healing through embodiment, movement, and somatic work is an important part of Traka’s legacy and purpose. As a company of dance practitioners, we believe that movement and turning back into our bodies are crucial. Using movement as a way to express emotion and begin difficult conversations around mental health will continue throughout the development and touring of Traka.
