Jean Appolon will lead a FREE all-ages, family-friendly Gede dance workshop at 4:30pm on October 30 in the Armory Performance Hall.

Known as the Festival of the Ancestors, Fèt Gede is celebrated in Haiti on November 1-2. People dress up, take to the streets, dance their communion with ancestors, and walk to cemeteries to feed the dead with gifts from their tables.

Join choreographer and master teacher Jean Appolon, and master drummer Wichemond Thelus for a dance workshop focused on Gede dance movement, rhythms and traditions. The workshop is designed for all movers and makers. Participants will be welcomed to create a space for shared remembrance; all are invited to bring a photograph or object to honor a loved one. Please dress in white, black or purple.
