Ages 3-6: Creative Dance

Timing: We limit our classes with the youngest dancers to 45 minutes

Our approach to educating children ages 3-6 introduces them to the art of dance using patterns, movement words, music and storytelling. Haitian Folkloric rhythms and movements are woven into the class in a child-friendly fashion. Each lesson is centered on a different social justice theme, which is introduced through a story and then explored further through age-appropriate conversation and dance. This also gives students the chance to play around with moving to Haitian folkloric rhythms, and learn about making dances by building a dance together with their fellow students. Past and future themes include kindness, acceptance, noticing and appreciating differences, identity, standing up against injustice, and love.
