Lonnie Anela O’ Kalani Neff Stanton

Lonnie Anela O’ Kalani Neff Stanton is a proud Native Hawaiian raised in rural Northern California and based in Boston. She is a dance maker who values what can be learned when shifting between performer, educator, and choreographer. She graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a BFA. Lonnie is committed to providing dance education with a strong somatic focus.

They completed their 200 hour yoga certification through Yogaworks. For 10 years Stanton worked with Prometheus Dance performing and teaching with the company. She currently performs with Public Displays of Motion and Jean Appolon Expressions. During her years dancing in NYC, she worked with Kinesis Project Dance Theater focusing solely on site specific performance. Lonnie is passionate about crafting dance in unconventional, often outdoor spaces where a broad audience can be reached. She is drawn to creating performances that amplify the healing connection modern society can find to the natural world.

Stanton was thrilled to choreograph auditory movement maps for the American Repertory Theater’s: Arboretum Experience (2021) and be rewarded the Live Arts Boston Grant (2022)  for her collaborative AR project: Emotive Land.  Lonnie was an artist in residence at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery (24’-25’), choreographing a dance tour, Grief to Gratitude, around Auburn Lake. They are on faculty at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and The Harvard Dance Center. Bringing dance education into public schools through JAE, Notes in Motion, Boston Ballet, and New York City Ballet, has been especially rewarding to her.
