Bio

Kei A. Phillip is a Boston-born creative practitioner, educator, and administrator committed to fostering collaboration, equity, and mindfulness. She earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology in Education from Teachers College and holds a Bachelors in Dance from Barnard College. Her work spans over 15 years, beginning at NY-based schools and nonprofits.

With her relocation to the Greater Boston area, she has supported programs with various roles at organizations like Acera School, the Boch Center, Arrow Street Arts, and now JAE.

For Kei, dance is a manifestation of heritage, a source of wellness, and a living metaphor for how she navigates the world. As an Afro-Caribbean descendent, her movement practice reflects her evolving study of Afro-diasporic music-dance culture including Haitian folkloric, Afro-Cuban folkloric, traditional West African (Mali/Guinea), and house.

She also brings her passion for movement into community building as a social dance activator, certified yoga instructor (RYT-200), and BodyMind Dance teacher (CTBMD). She’s grateful for the opportunity to deepen her relationship with JAE and facilitate the development of the JAE Dance Center.
